MEN’S DISEASES
AZOOSPERMIA
Men who do not have sperm in their semen have a condition called azoospermia. Absence of sperm or spermatozoa in the ejaculation is also known as Nil Sperm Count It happens to about 1% of all men and 15% of infertile men. It shows no visible symptoms but your partner cannot conceive.
CAUSES
There is a problem with the sperm production. There is a blockage such that sperm production, although normal, cannot reach the ejaculate.
LOW SPERM COUNT SYMPTOMS
The main sign of low sperm count is the inability to conceive a child. Often, there are no other obvious signs or symptoms. Problems with sexual function. Low sex drive or difficulty maintaining an erection. Pain, swelling or a lump in the testicle area. Decreased facial or body hair. Inherited hormonal imbalance. Blockage of sperm passage.
PREMATURE EJACULATION
Premature ejaculation is a phenomenon when a man has orgasm before achieving maximum sexual stimulation. It is uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after sexual penetration. It happens with minimal sexual stimulation and before the person wishes. It may result in unsatisfactory sex for both partners. This can increase the anxiety that may add to the problem. It can lead to sexual dissatisfaction for both partners. Premature ejaculation can be a frustrating and embarrassing thing for a man.
CAUSES PSYSIOLOGICAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL
Too anxious about his first time sexual performance with his partner. Depression, Guilt and other psychological disorders. Hormonal imbalance, Inherited Trait. Trauma from an injury or accident. Prostate Problem, Problems of Thyroid Gland. Abnormal levels of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters.
PRIMARY SYMPTOM OF PREMATURE EJACULATION
The inability to delay ejaculation for more than one minute after penetration. However, the problem may occur in all sexual situations, even during masturbation.
PROSTATORHHEA
Weakness of prostate gland causes discharge of prostate juice during stool, urination and straining.
OLIGOSPERMIA
It refers to semen with a low concentration of sperm and is a common finding in male infertility. Often semen with a decreased sperm concentration may also show significant abnormalities in sperm morphology and motility. Low Sperm Count. Sperm Count Less than 20 million / millilitre. Normal Sperm Count is 20 million / millilitre to 120 million.
PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT
The prostate is a small gland in the male reproductive system. It is positioned in front of the rectum and below the bladder. The prostate grows two folds during the puberty phase of a man and goes through a second phase of growth during old age but in some men prostate may grow all through their life. It is a common condition for aged men.
THE WARNING SIGNS OF AN ONGOING PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT
Frequent visit to bathroom at night. The bladder does empty fully. Exertion while urinating due to weak urine flow.
INFERTILITY
Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive despite having regular unprotected sex for one or more than one year The cause for infertility can be either present in the male or female.
INFERTILITY IS SUB-DIVIDED INTO 2 TYPES
PRIMARY INFERTILITY
Primary Infertility is defined as a couple who have never been able to conceive.
SECONDARY INFERTILITY
Secondary Infertility is termed as a couple who have difficulty in conceiving after already having conceived in past.
CAUSES OF INFERTILITY IN MALES
CAUSES OF INFERTILITY IN FEMALES
IMPOTENCE
Impotence refers to a man's absolute inability to obtain a penile erection even after proper stimulation. An erectile dysfunction takes place when a man is unable to produce an erection hard and long enough to perform a satisfying sexual intercourse. This dysfunction can happen to any man.
CAUSES
Erectile Dysfunction is common in people with diabetes. It involves premature and unusually severe hardening of the arteries. Men with depression should be fully evaluated for medical illness as well as psychological factors. Some antidepressant medications cause erectile failure. There are many neurological causes of erectile dysfunction. Diabetes, chronic alcoholism, multiple sclerosis, heavy metal poisoning, spinal cord and nerve injuries, and nerve damage from pelvic operations can cause erectile dysfunction. A great variety of prescription drugs, such as blood pressure medications, anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications, glaucoma eye drops and cancer chemotherapy agents are just some of the many medications associated with ED. Hormonal abnormalities, such as increased prolactin (a hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland), steroid abuse by bodybuilders, too much or too little thyroid hormone, and hormones administered for prostate cancer may cause ED. Low testosterone can contribute to ED but is rarely the sole factor responsible for ED.
CHARACTERISTICS
Difficulty in getting an erection for sexual intercourse or in keeping the penis erect until the end of intercourse. Before ejaculation or before the end of sexual intercourse penis softens. Man may try to ejaculate quickly before he loses his erection. It is more common in older man.
SPERMATORRHEA
It is the flow of semen with urine. Semen passes either while passing urine or while passing stool. Constipation and straining may worsen this condition. Semen passes before urination or sometimes mixed with urine. Sometimes milky secretion without spermatozoa is passed from prostate. This condition is known as prostatorrhea. At times, thin, transparent and watery discharge with spermatozoa from the testes is passed. Both these conditions have to be treated as it disturbs the nervous system or may cause impotency.
